5forty design is a Norfolk, Virginia based Industrial Design firm specializing in pretty much everything. We (yes, that’s a royal “we”) are particularly interested in designing and fabricating sustainable furniture and creating installations for sustainability-minded buildings.

5forty was started in 2004 by two Virginia Tech Industrial Design graduates. The first four years were mainly focused on invention development, with the occasional furniture or sculpture project. 5forty played a role in the granting of 15+ patents and designed several products that are currently on the market.
